How To Use The App
Welcome to your planner. Before you open Day 1, take five minutes to read through this so you know exactly what you are working with and how everything functions. The app is simple but knowing what each element is for will help you get the most out of it from the very first day.
Getting Started
That link opens the app directly in your browser, no download, password required -provided below. It works on your phone, tablet, or computer.
One important note: your data lives in your browser's local storage on the device you use. It does not sync across devices. Choose one primary device for your journaling and use it consistently throughout the 90 days. If you clear your browser data or switch browsers, you will lose your saved entries. To be safe, treat your chosen device and browser as your dedicated planner space for the duration of the program.
A Note on Technology
The app is your digital container for this work. It is designed to be reliable and straightforward, and your entries are to be saved. That said, technology is never fully guaranteed, browsers update, devices change, local storage can occasionally be cleared, and life happens.
For that reason, I strongly recommend keeping a physical backup of your practice alongside the app.
This does not need to be elaborate. A dedicated notebook, a printed copy of the PDF workbook, or even a simple journal you write in alongside your app entries is enough. At minimum, write down your responses to the weekly Pennebaker writing prompts by hand. These are the most important entries in the program, they represent your deepest honest contact with the material and they are worth having in a form that does not depend on a browser or a device.
Think of the app as your tracker and the paper as your record. Both together give you something no single technology can guarantee: work that is fully yours, in your own handwriting, that no software update or browser clear can touch.
The PDF workbook included with your purchase is designed exactly for this purpose. Print it. Use it alongside the app. Let the two complement each other.
Your 90 days of honest work deserves to be held in more than one place.
The Layout
The app has two sections: the menu and your daily entry below the menu. (note: if on a desktop the menu will be a sidebar)
The Menu is your navigation and your progress tracker. All 90 days are organized into 16 weeks, grouped by phase. Click any week header to expand or collapse that week. Click any day to navigate directly to it. Each day has a small dot beside it, when you mark a day complete, that dot fills in solid black. At the top of the menu is your overall progress bar showing you what percentage of the 90 days you have completed.
At the bottom of the menu is a link to the Venusian Magick Circle community.
The top navigation bar runs across the top of the main content area. It shows you which phase, week, and pillar you are currently in, and has Previous and Next arrows for moving between days. On the right side you will see a small Auto-saved indicator that confirms your entries are being saved as you type.
The Week Context Banner
At the top of every day's entry page is a banner showing the current week's pillar and the specific pain point that week is targeting.
This banner is collapsed by default. Click The Science and This Week's Practice to expand it. Inside you will find the science note explaining the research behind this week's work, and the full description of this week's evidence-based practice.
You do not need to read this every single day. Read it on Day 1 of each new week and let it inform everything that follows. It will be there whenever you need to refer back to it.
Every day has the same structure. Here is what each element is and what it is for:
Mood Check-In
Seven options: Low, Quiet, Neutral, Open, Present, Energized, Magnetic. Tap or click the word that honestly reflects how you are feeling right now. There is no right answer. This is not about performing a certain state. It is about building an honest record of your emotional baseline across the full 90 days.
Energy Scale
Ten small squares running from 1 to 10. Click the square that corresponds to your energy level today. The squares fill in from left to right and the number appears beside the scale. Again... honest tracking only. Not performance.
The Affirmation
In the center of each day's page is the week's affirmation, set apart between two divider lines. Read it before you write. Let it land. These are not positive thinking statements. They are grounding reminders of what this week's work is in service of.
Daily Journal
This is your main writing space. The prompt is: What am I noticing, feeling, working through today?
Write whatever is there. It can be a few sentences or several paragraphs. It can be about your practice, about what came up in your body, about resistance you felt, about something that shifted, or about something else entirely that is taking up space. All of it is relevant. There is no minimum length. The only requirement is honesty. Your journal saves automatically as you type.
Practice Check-In
A simple two-button check-in: Yes and Not today. This is asking whether you did the week's assigned practice today. Tap the honest answer. This is a tracking tool, not a guilt mechanism. Seeing your own pattern of when you show up and when you don't is itself useful information over 90 days.
Body Notes
A second smaller writing field specifically for somatic observations. The prompt is: Where did I feel tension, aliveness, numbness, or ease today?
This is separate from your main journal for a reason. It is asking you to check in with your physical body as a distinct source of information. It can be brief, a sentence or two is enough. What matters is building the habit of noticing. This field also saves automatically.
Weekly Writing Prompts
This section only appears on Day 1 of each new week — the first day of a new pillar. It will not be there every day.
When it does appear, you will see two writing prompts based on Pennebaker's expressive writing protocol and a built-in countdown timer.
How to use the timer: Click Start Timer before you begin your first prompt and continue to your second prompt. It counts down from 15 minutes. When it reaches zero it stops.
The timer is not there to rush you. It is there to ensure you write for the full depth the protocol requires. Pennebaker's research is specific: fifteen minutes of sustained, honest engagement with the material produces measurably different outcomes than a few minutes of surface-level writing. Take the timer seriously. Write without editing, and without worrying about how it sounds. Feelings and facts both.
Both prompt fields save automatically as you type.
Mark Day Complete
At the bottom of every daily entry is the Mark Day Complete button.
When you tap it, the dot beside that day in the sidebar fills in solid black, and the app advances you to the next day after a brief pause. Mark a day complete when you have shown up honestly, journal written, practice check-in answered, body notes noted. That is all completion requires. Not perfection. Honest presence.
The Closing Ceremony
After Day 90, the sidebar shows one final entry: Closing Ceremony.
This is the integration ceremony, the final piece of the protocol where you witness what the 90 days actually produced across all four pillars. It has five long-form writing prompts and is designed to be done slowly, with full presence, and ideally with the ritual opening described in the integration ceremony guide.
Navigate to it using the sidebar or by clicking
Next on Day 90.
If You Miss Days
The app does not expire. Your entries do not disappear. If you miss days or weeks, come back to where you left off, do not skip ahead. The program is cumulative and each phase builds on the one before it. There is no behind here. There is only continuing.
